2015 Gallery

January

January is usually a quiet month for the local home educators, however thanks to BCC Cinemas we enjoyed a screening of 'Into the Woods'.  We also managed a fundraising BBQ at Bunnings.

February

February

Pancake Day was flipping amazing and most people left with their mouths agape.  We were also very happy to receive a donation from Grill'd.

March

March

We take every opportunity to enjoy food - this month we are celebrating a birthday.  Even had some entertainment from our talented parents.  Same 'talented' parent helps Ken assemble some 'on-sale' trolleys that were really needed at the Centre.

April

April

Our community - creating, drawing favourite comic characters, relaxing in the beautiful grounds and sharing books on the couch with a pal.  Our sandpit and benches have been shown some love with a new coat of paint.

May

Check out the fun at this activity day!!  Rob from Toowoomba Music Therapy was drumming with all ages.  LA Circus with Tanya is always a popular choice.  Graham Stewart also engages all ages with his 'science' workshop, while Peta and Peter of 'Creative Access' (The GRID) had lots of art ideas for us.

Our teen group tried not to get lost while orienteering around Peacehaven Park.  Thanks to Felicity and Rob who introduced most of this group to the sport for the first time. Appreciate you organising this Ros Taylor!

Quiet days at the Centre are important & fun too: a solo meditation in the sandpit; a quiet game of chess; a martial arts dance & an impromptu junior engineering class in the sandpit.

July

July

The teens visited Murphy's Creek Escape for some high flying adventure.  After instruction in safety procedures the children took to the trees.  Aerial acrobatics came naturally to some, & all thoroughly enjoyed the day.  Huge thanks to Ros Taylor for organising this activity.

August

August

Moran Prizes ran a free photography workshop at Wirraglen.  The children were supplied with cameras & given some great tips/advice from an experienced photographer.  They then spread out through the beautiful grounds at Wirralgen to take their own photos.  At the end of the session they chose 1 photo each to enter into a national photo competition.

September

September

Arduino Workshop with Graham Stewart from Wahoo Business.  These teens were challenged all day, building these robots from scratch & then controlling them via a computer software program.  They also got to 'play' with some old technology - anyone remember playing 'pong' (tennis)??

October

October

At this month's activity day children could choose from Circus (LA Circus), Drama (Harry Paroz), Dance (Caitlin Schultz) & Art (Peta & Peter).  Harry was home educated, a regular at Wirraglen from the start (2008) & is now studying drama at USQ.

Thanks to Susan & her team of USQ HPE students for a great afternoon at Gowrie Community Hall.  Sixty home schooled children explored all sorts of exciting activities with the enthusiastic 3rd year students (1 of whom was home schooled.)

November

Children enjoying the Centre - painting, chess & exploring the waterfall.  It's amazing ho much this area can change after heavy rain!

The teens were set a mystery to solve from the Escape Hunt Team - they traveled from Brisbane to set up this challenge for us - lots of fun!!

November

December

The first week in December is usually our last get-together for the year.  We have a few birthdays to celebrate in that week, & of course we take the opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to our volunteers.
