With the idea of updating the national educational goals and commitment for the following 10 years, in December of 2019 all the Australian Education Ministers and the Education Council released the Alice Springs (Mparntwe - pronounced M-ban tua) Education Declaration (or simply Mparntwe Declaration).
This declaration provides the new basis for the Australian Curriculum, replacing it's predecessor, the Melbourne Declaration of 2008. It covers all the aspirations for Education in Australia, setting two main goals:
Goal 1: The Australian education system promotes excellence and equity
Goal 2: : All young Australians become: confident and creative individuals; successful lifelong learners; and active and informed members of the community.
Although part of this document will focus on the education system, this declaration is helpful for us to understand all the hopes and expectations for general education in Australia, and what we, the parents and guardians, need to make sure we provide to our children when home educating them.
